Morgan Bertram Yacht Sales is owned and operated by Morgan Bertram, son of Yachting Industry Legend, Richard (Dick) Bertram. 

Being born into one of the most famous families in the yachting industry and one of six children, Morgan and his siblings had a very interesting upbringing.  As boating was an intricate part of the Bertram’s family life, the kids were the ‘crew’ of the boats, learning the meticulous manors of their father at a tender age.  In their father’s eyes a boat is never finished, there was always something to improve upon.  The yachts that the family maintained were his father’s selling tools for promoting the Bertram product line.  At all times, the boats were to be kept in showing condition.

 

Morgan’s father felt the best yachtsmen were those that knew both sides of the industry and taught Morgan how to sail at seven years old.  By the time he was ten, Morgan was racing with his father in Biscayne Bay.  At the age of 16 he competed in his first off-shore sailing competition from Newport to Bermuda, then a trans-Atlantic Passage to Greece on an 80’ Maxi Ondine.  One of the highlights of the trip was eating lunch at the Onassis’ private island, Scorpio, with his father.  After lunch, everybody went Spinnaker flying onboard Ondine.

 

Morgan attended high school on a 156’ sailing ship that traveled through Europe, Africa, South America and the Caribbean.  He graduated in Guadeloupe.  After graduation, Morgan sailed one of the school ships in the Tall Ships Race from Bermuda to Newport and the Parade of Sail in New York Harbor for the 1976 Centennial.  Morgan attended Boston College and continued racing sailboats as crew in competitions like the Sardinia Cup, Maxi Worlds and the SORC (Southern Ocean Racing Conference).  After college, Morgan captained a charter boat in the Caribbean before coming back to South Florida to get into the brokerage business.  His father wanted him to learn the experience of working for another company in the industry before coming to work for Richard Bertram Yachts.  At this time, Morgan went to work for REX/Cheoy Lee.  Morgan then worked at the Sovrell Harbor branch of Richard Bertram Yachts before moving to their corporate headquarters in Fort Lauderdale.  Today, Morgan is the proud Owner of his own brokerage firm, Morgan Bertram Yacht Sales.

 

To this day, with a lifetime of yachting experience to draw upon, Morgan applies the values and work ethic he learned at a young age.  Morgan spends a great deal of time finding out exactly what his customer’s boating needs are then he searches to find the boat that’s right for them.  He takes great pride in the privilege of selling yachts to referrals of his satisfied customers and being a part of the exciting industry that his father introduced him to.
